Father Christmas has arrived at the Magic Cave at David Jones

8 November 2014

Father Christmas has arrived at the Magic Cave at David Jones for the beginning of the festive season.

Over 354,000 people lined the streets to celebrate and watch the Credit Union Christmas Pageant.

Brian Gilbertson, Event Director was thrilled with the crowd and festive cheer at the Credit Union Christmas Pageant.

"Thank you South Australia, a massive crowd and a perfect Pageant day."

"Father Christmas has arrived and is safely at the Magic Cave at David Jones."

Father Christmas arrived in Adelaide very early this morning for the start of the Pageant.

He wasn’t alone however during the early hours of this morning, with many people getting things ready behind-the-scenes.

120 makeup artists worked from 6.30am to 9am to bring the pageant characters to life.

Father Christmas was joined by 250 clowns, 63 floats, 17 bands, plus nine walking sets, ten dance groups, three choirs and one DJ.

The Pageant began at 9.30am at South Terrace, winding its way along the streets of Adelaide, before finishing at the Magic Cave at David Jones on North Terrace.

This year’s theme was ‘Share the Pageant with Someone you Love’, and indeed the Pageant was shared with a whole lot of love!
