Meet Adelaide's very own Queen and King!
Fairytales have become reality for two credit union staff vying for the title of Credit Union Christmas Pageant Queen and King. Rabiah Salah from Police Credit Union and Matt Jenkins from Community CPS Australia are celebrating their new royal status and looking forward to the whirlwind of magical activity spanning the next four months until Pageant Day on November 10.
This year’s Credit Union Christmas Pageant Queen Rabiah, 26, said she was honoured to have the opportunity to get out amongst the community and was excited about fulfilling her childhood dream of being Pageant Queen.
“I am thrilled to be part of something that gives so much back to the community. I can’t wait to tour regional schools, hospitals and special needs centres to bring the laughter, fun and Pageant magic to those who can’t make it on the day,” Queen Rabiah said.
“I also feel very proud to be crowned Police Credit Union’s first ever Pageant Queen.”
Credit Union Christmas Pageant King Matt, 29, caught the judges’ eye with his balloon twisting skills and said he was particularly looking forward to becoming a role model for young boys across South Australia.
“Playing an iconic role in such an historical community event is one thing, but being a role model for young guys is something I take very seriously and I’m looking forward to being at the forefront of the Credit Union Christmas Pageant.”
Credit Union Christmas Pageant Company Chair, Peter Evers, announced Rabiah and Matt as the 2012 Credit Union Christmas Pageant Queen and King at a public crowning ceremony under the Rundle Mall Gawler Place Canopy today at 12:20pm.
“The Credit Union Christmas Pageant Royal Family have the most important role on Pageant Day after Father Christmas and are pivotal in ensuring the Pageant provides a warm, fun and lasting memory to South Australians”.
“The Pageant is proudly 80 years young this year and is a grand South Australian Christmas tradition which the credit unions are delighted to play such a major part in,” he said.
The Credit Union Christmas Pageant Queen and King are chosen by a panel of celebrity judges and a tally of public votes to assist in spreading the joy of Christmas to the community of South Australia.
